Hot celebrity

There's always a difference between how men and women think as we are engineered differently and use different parts of our brains to make decisions.

Scarlett Johansson and Meagan Fox are the obsessions of all men on earth. They both have perfect figure albeit different styles, resemble sex icons, always wear tiny piece of clothing. The two can't really put up a good performance in movies nor they have been awarded for superiority in acting, but who cares how well they act, the guys' eyesight just follow the movement of their bodies and sit back and admire. There's nothing much they need to do except being pretty and sexy.

I wouldn't argue against whether Meagan Fox and Scarlett Johansson are hot or not. I am sure they are totally desirable and I know most guys LOVE them. But in girls' eyes, we have different definition as to hotness. We take into account of many substances ie. intelligence, confidence, capability, aspiration.. basically their brains.

My two all time favorites are Natalie Portman and Angelina Jolie. Natalie Portman has a drop dead gorgeous face to die for.. plus she went to Harvard for crying out loud. She has this mysterious look that makes you wonder what's in her head, haven't you seen her performance in Closer? Angelina Jolie was just plain cool, she is such a woman but at the same time can beat any women she want. Have I not mentioned about her legs.. who doesn't love her in Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

In the tennis court, Sharapova is my favorite female player.. she is way too pretty to be an athlete, she could have been a model you know.

Even though Anna Kournikova doesn't have as much of a pretty face as Sharapova, I bet most guys would think Kournikova is hotter than Sharapova. Why? well.. they both have an athlete figure with long blond hair.. but Kournikova just know how to work it out. The picture in tennis outfit doesn't do her justice.

She even has her own swimsuit calender for guys to craze over. A smart girl knows how to commercialize herself as a celeb sports star.

I do think Hayden Panettiere is really pretty. I am attracted to her when I first saw Heroes. She is tiny and cute and so young... but she has a vibe that attracts people's attention. It would be interesting to see how she grows into a woman.

Late night at work

It's almost 11pm and I am still at work. The good thing is I am still busy amid economic downturn; the downside is why I am doing this while I can get my beauty sleep.

My company has been spending a thousand something per week on fruit to feed 200 staff at my firm. I wouldn't argue against it.. although every firm is trying to cut corners here and there. I don't really eat banana, instead I turn these weekly fruit distributions into daily breakfast. Just two bananas yield a loaf of banana bread, I like my banana bread to be moist and chunky and rich with lots of chocolate chips and walnut, this is not where you should cut corners....

There's a popular japanese pancake place at admiralty called sakura street....although admittedly they are charging too much for a pancake, why not when I don't need to pay for it.. haha. My colleague is nice enough to buy me one since I have been working so hard. Tiramisu is the best flavor, with coffee jelly and chocolate cream. I also like strawberry chocolate and pear.

I have been watching a lot of American TV lately..since I am not interested in the Asian dramas anymore (I was recently mocked for not knowing laughing gor, and SO WHAT!) I am very addicted to American Idol, I thought last season should be the best since archie has the best vocal so far...I am so surprised by the number of talented people this season, adam lambert is my favorite by miles. I am actually eager to hear him sing every week. Don't you sometimes ask yourself why you cannot be as talented as other people? How come others are gifted while you are not and they can utilize their talents with such confidence? at the end of the day, everybody is not created equal.

How come HK people sing so badly? No single talent person exists in this tinny city? I remember there still some very good singers back in the 80s/90s but the new ones are just so bad.... they can't even find the note and I can't help myself but switching off the tv whenever "gen gor gum cook" is on, gosh, can't believe it is still showing.

Bearish on everything

Failure to save East Europe will lead to worldwide meltdown
The unfolding debt drama in Russia, Ukraine, and the EU states of Eastern Europe has reached acute danger point.

By Ambrose Evans-Pritchard
Last Updated: 2:05AM GMT 15 Feb 2009

If mishandled by the world policy establishment, this debacle is big enough to shatter the fragile banking systems of Western Europe and set off round two of our financial Götterdämmerung.

Austria's finance minister Josef Pröll made frantic efforts last week to put together a €150bn rescue for the ex-Soviet bloc. Well he might. His banks have lent €230bn to the region, equal to 70pc of Austria's GDP.

"A failure rate of 10pc would lead to the collapse of the Austrian financial sector," reported Der Standard in Vienna. Unfortunately, that is about to happen.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) says bad debts will top 10pc and may reach 20pc. The Vienna press said Bank Austria and its Italian owner Unicredit face a "monetary Stalingrad" in the East.

Mr Pröll tried to drum up support for his rescue package from EU finance ministers in Brussels last week. The idea was scotched by Germany's Peer Steinbrück. Not our problem, he said. We'll see about that.

Stephen Jen, currency chief at Morgan Stanley, said Eastern Europe has borrowed $1.7 trillion abroad, much on short-term maturities. It must repay – or roll over – $400bn this year, equal to a third of the region's GDP. Good luck. The credit window has slammed shut.

Not even Russia can easily cover the $500bn dollar debts of its oligarchs while oil remains near $33 a barrel. The budget is based on Urals crude at $95. Russia has bled 36pc of its foreign reserves since August defending the rouble.

"This is the largest run on a currency in history," said Mr Jen.

In Poland, 60pc of mortgages are in Swiss francs. The zloty has just halved against the franc. Hungary, the Balkans, the Baltics, and Ukraine are all suffering variants of this story. As an act of collective folly – by lenders and borrowers – it matches America's sub-prime debacle. There is a crucial difference, however. European banks are on the hook for both. US banks are not.

Almost all East bloc debts are owed to West Europe, especially Austrian, Swedish, Greek, Italian, and Belgian banks. En plus, Europeans account for an astonishing 74pc of the entire $4.9 trillion portfolio of loans to emerging markets.

They are five times more exposed to this latest bust than American or Japanese banks, and they are 50pc more leveraged (IMF data).

Spain is up to its neck in Latin America, which has belatedly joined the slump (Mexico's car output fell 51pc in January, and Brazil lost 650,000 jobs in one month). Britain and Switzerland are up to their necks in Asia.

Whether it takes months, or just weeks, the world is going to discover that Europe's financial system is sunk, and that there is no EU Federal Reserve yet ready to act as a lender of last resort or to flood the markets with emergency stimulus.

Under a "Taylor Rule" analysis, the European Central Bank already needs to cut rates to zero and then purchase bonds and Pfandbriefe on a huge scale. It is constrained by geopolitics – a German-Dutch veto – and the Maastricht Treaty.

But I digress. It is East Europe that is blowing up right now. Erik Berglof, EBRD's chief economist, told me the region may need €400bn in help to cover loans and prop up the credit system.

Europe's governments are making matters worse. Some are pressuring their banks to pull back, undercutting subsidiaries in East Europe. Athens has ordered Greek banks to pull out of the Balkans.

The sums needed are beyond the limits of the IMF, which has already bailed out Hungary, Ukraine, Latvia, Belarus, Iceland, and Pakistan – and Turkey next – and is fast exhausting its own $200bn (€155bn) reserve. We are nearing the point where the IMF may have to print money for the world, using arcane powers to issue Special Drawing Rights.

Its $16bn rescue of Ukraine has unravelled. The country – facing a 12pc contraction in GDP after the collapse of steel prices – is hurtling towards default, leaving Unicredit, Raffeisen and ING in the lurch. Pakistan wants another $7.6bn. Latvia's central bank governor has declared his economy "clinically dead" after it shrank 10.5pc in the fourth quarter. Protesters have smashed the treasury and stormed parliament.
"This is much worse than the East Asia crisis in the 1990s," said Lars Christensen, at Danske Bank.

"There are accidents waiting to happen across the region, but the EU institutions don't have any framework for dealing with this. The day they decide not to save one of these one countries will be the trigger for a massive crisis with contagion spreading into the EU."

Europe is already in deeper trouble than the ECB or EU leaders ever expected. Germany contracted at an annual rate of 8.4pc in the fourth quarter.

If Deutsche Bank is correct, the economy will have shrunk by nearly 9pc before the end of this year. This is the sort of level that stokes popular revolt.

The implications are obvious. Berlin is not going to rescue Ireland, Spain, Greece and Portugal as the collapse of their credit bubbles leads to rising defaults, or rescue Italy by accepting plans for EU "union bonds" should the debt markets take fright at the rocketing trajectory of Italy's public debt (hitting 112pc of GDP next year, just revised up from 101pc – big change), or rescue Austria from its Habsburg adventurism.
So we watch and wait as the lethal brush fires move closer.

If one spark jumps across the eurozone line, we will have global systemic crisis within days. Are the firemen ready?

Hot couple

Everybody loves mcdreamy because he is compassionate, smart, confident, has lots of hair, good looking... basically a dream guy for every single girl...

But I have to say he is so going downhill ever since owen hunt came on board...and the relationship b/w him and grey have been becoming so cliché and whinny. Comparatively, Hunt is pretty bad looking and bossy, but he is a much more interesting character, with a suffocating confidence and masculinity that's difficult to reject..

Applying to real life, do you prefer to be attracted to the look of a guy or to his personalities? Surrounding me there's a group of girls who constantly check out guys, at a dining table, on the street, travelling, clubbing, at work.. seems like they have a man radar implant that none will fall of their sight. There's another group who are basically blind, ignorant of guys walking by, only focus on the ones who are assessable. Maybe the Hunt type would not be the former group's cup of tea but definitely be screened out due to the look...then they would miss out the personalities that matter the most.

Scandal

Thanks cchw for the delicious macaroons!!! These are absolutely heavenly..I always love pierre herme's creation of sweets, he can always turn sometime normal into something magnificent, and mixing combination of absurd ingredients into completely different flavor profiles. If I live in paris, I probably would go to the shop everyday until my taste buds turn obsolete. Sorry.. no sharing this time, I am finishing all of them myself and saving the truffle flavor as the last piece to rekindle my crush on him.

It was absolutely hilarious to learn about a rumor floating around in the market, and I am quite surprised that it even deem any value. There are BQ and TR in business relationship for the recent years, and a rumor has it that they were in talks of a M&A which has not been known to the market...later on the deal heated up and became apparent to some given the possibilities of synergies and the merger seemed strategically sound. Yet those who were familiar with the history of TR believed their merger will more likely to destroy value and started writing negative notes about TR, trying to shoot down the deal...two parties were aware that the merger has come out of the shadow and decided to bring it back to underground again.. nonetheless the merger continues while negative commentary persists. I must applaud the fantastic creativity involved with how they came up with the story with no basis at all...well the street loves juicy scandals and this one does score some points if you know the two parties well enough...

My big boss already told us that no matter how good your score is the bonus for 2009 is going to be "0". He knows better than anybody else that we are not going to slack on the back of this comment because this is the year that one should be working hard to keep the job. I am only going to report fair weather going forward, proud to announce that I rank #1 in performance since the start of the fiscal year. Although I wouldn't get compensated for the ranking this year.. it just feels good for being right.

Marxism

"Owners of capital will stimulate the working class to buy more and more of expensive goods, houses and technology, pushing them to take more and more expensive credits, until their debt becomes unbearable. The unpaid debt will lead to bankruptcy of banks, which will have to be nationalized, and the State will have to take the road which will eventually lead to communism" Karl Marx, Das Kapital, 1867

No doubt that communism is not the path one should pursue... but capitalism does extrapolate the extent of greed and selfishness among humankind.. exemplified by the notorious 18bn wall street bonus payments. I wonder what will happen to US next? It is doubtful that obama stimulus package will give immediate resolution to the economic crisis, looking at the daily headlines of enormous job cuts among US companies, it is obvious that unemployment rate can shoot up to 10%. The proposed infrastructure projects will not be starting in the next 18 months; the tax cuts and subsidies to the unemployed will likely make them more unwilling to work.. what we see is sagging global demand is weighing down all industries and different from China whose government is still relatively wealthy US is now like a fallen angle with broken credits and depreciating dollar.. I wonder how they come up with the 800bn, and I wonder whether their investment will yield more than their interests in debt, and I wonder whether the confluence of all the political and economic issues will shake up social unrest... we don't need to go through the physical act of war for the definition of world war, the consequence of financial crisis is creating more damage, stemming from the ridiculous reasons of reckless spending and capitalism.

Sick

I figured my immune system has deteriorated significantly this year and have felt sick for multiple times.... what it means is no matter how much exercise you want to squeeze into your schedule the only thing that can keep you healthy is rest.

Been sick since tuesday and still haven't recovered. After a cocktail medication of colatin, tylenol, panadol, secret liquid and plum liqueur to help with diarrhea, the final resolution is to see a old time family doctor who still recalls me as a college student in the states. hope i can get well asap so i can resume work on monday...

Making right calls

It takes time to prove one's call to be right. People tend to look at the positives and ignore the negatives. Contrarians are loners, but when they are right they will become heros.

Irony

I still remember that the public claim of Microsoft's notoriously grueling intervieiwng process.... to scout for the most creative thinkers from the merely brilliant. They invented challenging riddles and puzzles and identified talents who can solve questions with creative and effective analytical thinking.

But what an irony that they turn out to be not so great of a company after all, even with all the talents that they have recruited, they failed to create anything new but everything that turns out to be a failure, citing Vista and Zune as examples. They tend to be the follower instead of idea generator.. what I see is a company struggling to survive, with no killer apps in the roadmap. We'll see how Windows 7 will turn out, and I really doubt if they can gain market share in the mobile market amid Andriod and Mac are already gaining a foothold in this area...

It's no over yet

Don't tell me everything is okay...

That's the problem with most of the people, they only see what's happening now, without thinking about what will happen next. Looking at things from the surface wouldn't help people dodge the crisis attack, that will just make them the victim of crisis.

I've been asking others how are people in US, whether they are feeling the recession and concern about the job security, they always say so far they don't have any impact from the financial crisis and not concern about being laid off...yeah, tell me about it..no companies are going to tell their employees that they are in deep trouble, they are not making money and asking them to look for another job. They all say they are performing well and financially sound and liquidity is not a problem. But looking at the indicators, if you found ourselves counting fingers most of the time, browsing internet from the time you walk into the office, workload suddenly disappearing, unless you are waiting for the severance package you should know that ultimately companies are going to cut staff to salvage the bottom line.

I always wonder the productivity of the US firms. They say US is the most productive nation but when I look at people working in the silicon valley they don't really need to work long hours nor produce that much output per staff. I wouldn't be surprised when firms starting to go leaner in terms of labor force.

Reid said on Wednesday that "one of the individuals in the caucus today talked about a major insurance company -- a major insurance company -- one with a name that everyone knows that's on the verge of going bankrupt." Who is it going to be? Allstate, Hartford, Metlife, XL.... we are setting ourselves up for another turbulence.

As we expect there will be more hedge funds failing. No banks are willing to lend now, liquidity got dried up, the process of deleveraging is sending asset prices to go down further. We are heading towards a perfect storm as we move along with earnings announcements....

What a man

This man is HOT!!

Is it true that michael phelps plays mcswimmy in grey's anatomy??? that would be interesting..hahah

Oct 1st

Happy National Day.
My six years old ibook finally claimed death.. I have always been wanting to replace my computer since my OS is so old all the new softwares no longer support my system, and it has been having brain stroke for several times in the past... Before I find a defibrillator to jump start my antique ibook I decided to buy a netbook as a temporary transition.

I struggled between acer aspire one and asus eeepc. obviously the tech expert undoubtedly voted for asus since it is a better OEM maker. but the blue aspire one is just soo pretty. Heard that it is extremely popular in Japan.

Finally decided to go for a more rational choice, same money for a larger screen and longer battery life and a stabler platform albeit smaller HD capacity. Is the blue surface worth the extra bucks?

The netbook is perfect for traveling, it is even lighter than my marie claire magazine..

Just two weeks ago CLSA invited Mariah Carey to perform at the gala dinner. I heard that she was unhappy to see all the audience were wearing suits hence intended to sing for 30 min only.. When she first came out singing the new release touch my body I suspected 95% of audience would have never heard of the song.. see the little reaction of the people in front of me.
The crowd was finally warmed up after some oldies. What I don't understand is how slow she moved, I am not sure whether it is because of the super short skirt that she's wearing or she has osteoporosis. is it true that she is pregnant?

Identity

How much do we know about ourselves? We know our blood type, our horoscope, and what personalities belong to the horoscope, we know what we desire for, how we react to certain situations, how others are different from us......

There are people who I've known for years but don't understand me as a person, and there're people who straightly interpret me based on a very short conversation. The latter is the scariest part, they seem to be able to pierce through your heart and ruthlessly pinpoint the side of you which you wanna hide. You would question yourself, is your problem that obvious to others?

Although you know exactly what your problem is, you have little intention to change yourself until someone tells you into your face, and then there comes a sudden revelation pops inside your brain. Why am I so easily deciphered? Why this is not a problem for others? How should I correct this problem from now on?

While there're others just plain fake, praising you for who you are, dodging the bad traits in you, applaud you for whatever you do. Guys love this type of girls, they always like a boost in their mansculinarity, while I think it is just a pure show.

Admitting your own flaws is the bravest thing to do; not admitting means immaturity. Knowing yourself is a process of growing up, while not knowing yourself means you don't recognize your own identity.

Joke

A man in a hot air balloon realised he was lost. He reduced his altitude and saw a man below. "Excuse me, but can you help me?I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago but I don't know where I am," he said.

The man below replied: "You are in a hot air balloon hovering approximately 30 ft above the ground. You are between 40 and 41 degrees North latitude and between 56 and 57 degrees West longitude."

To which the balloonist replied "You must be a broker."

To which the man on the ground said: "I am, but how did you know?"

The reply came from above: "Everything you told me is technically correct but I have no idea what to make of your information, and the fact is I'm still lost. Frankly, you've not been much help so far."

The man below responded: "You must be a trader."

To which the balloonist replied: "Yes, I am, but how did you know?"

To which the man on the ground said: "You don't know where you are or where you are going. You have risen to your current position due to a large quantity of hot air. You made a promise which you have no idea how to keep and you expect me to solve your problem. The fact is, you are in exactly the same position you were in before we met, but now, somehow, it's my fault."

Weirdo

Have you ever come across some guys who are pretentious, socially impotent, and ugly looking?? basically they are the "tram men" in nature but playboys wannabe. Unfortunately I did so happen run into one, and it was absolutely hilarious....Not all hk guys are like this.. but he did represent a certain segment of hk male population..

Event: poolside bbq
People: 20s-30s-40s
Time: after dinner
My friend and I = HC
The guy = X = est 5'7", >180lbs, small eyes with glasses, round face, bad english, sweaty hands

HCs are talking to each other, and suddenly being approached by X, who we first acquainted just awhile ago.
X: Hey, how's everything up to?
HC pulling back our long hairs, wiping sweat off our face: It is getting so hot....
X: It is in fact such a waste for not using the swimming pool.
HC : Oh, you want to use it? I don't think you can really use the swimming pool here...
X thinking he might have said the wrong thing: I am not saying I want to use it, I wouldn't use it...but i want to see other people use it. You should go in, I want to see other people using the pool.
HC starting to think he is nuts and watches too much girls gone wild: Haha.. I don't want to use it, but you look hot! (seeing him sweating nonstop and dripping all over his shirt)
X: OH THANK YOU for the compliment, nobody describe me this way, you are the first one.
HC: ?????????????????????????????? (rolling up our eyes and have nothing to say)
X: OH, you mean literally...... I thought you mean I am hot... (and we slowly walked away)

What a loser

Last week, I managed to gather 13 people from my office to have a spicy crab dinner at cwb. We did have great fun at the dinner table as we all joked around and started revealing secrets of others.. even my boss was mocking one of our people for having a weekly top ten list and it was totally hilarious..

The dinner was not the main thing for me to write about....well, the story started with me wanting to plan a group dinner for our investment team, especially we had some newcomers we wanted to have some fun outside of work since we were working like crazy lately. I invited almost everybody from the investment team and started branching out to the marketing and compliance depts and we ended up having 10+ people committed to the dinner. Remember the smelly guy (SG) I briefly bitched about earlier? He joined for almost half of a year already, and obviously we didn't see him contributing anything in due course..well, that's another story. I felt guilty for opting him out since I invited everybody... so I asked him the day before if he wanted to join, and he quickly responded yes of course.

It really isn't my prejudice, for the time he has been in my office, he didn't really developed any fondness among my team, and the following is the reason why:

At the dinner table last week

Scenario #1
New Colleague SA (not HK native): Does anyone know how can I get to Lo Wu?
SG quickly jumps in: If you want to go to Lo Wu, there's numerous way to get there, you can take the MTR, bus... what you can do is to use the train !$#$@#$# (start not making any sense to us...)
Me to cut in: well... the most convenient way is taking the KCR by making a connection at TST.
SA: Oh really? But how does the KCR works...?
SG jumps in again: OR, you can take the ferry, you know it would be nice to take the ferry from hk island to kowloon.....$%$%#$%#$ for another 2 minutes...
SA started making a puzzling face with loads of information..
Me wants to shut his mouth: But which part of Lo Wu do you want to go? Are you going to China or what? Lo Wu is huge..
SA: Yeah.. I am actually going to go to horse riding.. there's a riding school in Lo Wu.
Me: Really?! Then you can only take a cab....it's kinda remote from the city.
SG keeps on going: What I suggested you to do is to visit Sai Kung, there's really nice seafood there, amazing aquarium and seafood restaurants by the shoreline....$@%$#%$#
Me can't stand him anymore: Wait a minute, why does she want to go to Sai Kung, she was asking about Lo Wu.
SG: Well, I was making suggestion on places she can go...
My other colleague laughing nonstop: Where have you been for the past 5 minutes, we were talking about horse riding in Lo Wu!
SG kicking the lid of the pot: Well... you can also go to Shatin, there's an arena there every weekend there's a game..
My other colleague feeling annoyed also: What are you talking about? She wants to go horse riding not watching horse racing???!!!
And he finally stops...

Scenario #2
SG like discovering a new continent: you know what I found amazing, this rubber thing to cover the phone (we call it the silicon casing) you can throw it around without breaking your phone..
And then he demonstrated by throwing his phone onto the floor.
And we all stared at him thinking why bother to talk about a silicon casing as we don't use it anymore...
SG trying very hard to sell his silicon casing: you know you can also talk on the phone while showering, with your wet fingers punching the keypad you wouldn't
get your phone wet, it is totally amazing...
My other colleague starts to challenge him: But why do you want to talk on the phone while taking a shower???

Scenario#3:
SG talking about Sai Kung again: What I found interesting is these restaurants with the fish tanks, you can choose the ones you like an they will make it for you, it's totally cool..$#%#$#%$#% praising how interesting the place is...
My colleague nodding with patience:.. yes yes.. but the place is really overpriced...
SG switching topic: Yeah.. you know the lockhart road all these bars and pubs these are the good ones.....with sooo many people, it is truly a happening place..#@$#@$#@
We all squinting our eyes thinking he must have gone there to hook up with a filipino.

Sometimes it's funny to have people like this around.. but most of time I feel annoyed by having an alien working in my team..

Lackadaisical me

Central at 12pm

Is it because of HK or is it because of the working in finance, why do we constantly feel running out of time? It seems like the deadline is always unrealistically tight, there's no such thing as complete research because you can always do more, when you are done with A you are then being asked why you are not done with B as well.

Working mood is extremely low lately mainly because the weather has been disgusting for the past few days, I am eager for the sunshine to return.

Sex and the city

Since every single person is talking about this, I guess I have to write something to prove that I did go see the movie as well....

But I don't really like the movie.

I think it is a good closure, it has entertainment value, it is colorful and full of beautiful things that I am obsessed with...Probably I haven't yet to reach 40 and I wouldn't be able to understand their mentality, are 40 yrs old people still constantly chasing for love, or more for comfort?

If we are constantly chasing for love, by the time we turn 50 but still true love is nowhere to be found, does it mean that we should live alone and be hopeful that we are able to find the significant other some years down the road?

The whole idea seem nonsense to me because as people grow older and are becoming more mature, what they desire is not just firework and romance, but respect, family and stability. It seem to me that there's a delusive message in the movie that love can last forever and you can feel it everyday...yeah.. i am sure your dad loves your mom but it's just not the same love anymore after certain period of time, does it mean you should dump your boyfriend/husband because you are dissatisfied with the relationship and there's no butterfly in the stomach anymore?

It seems to me that the main characters are more in love with themselves than with their boyfriends, making all the decisions based on how they feel and what they want. I thought if you truly love that person, you will do anything to make the other half happy, isn't that what all couples should do to sustain a relationship?

I like the tv drama because the lines are witty, the screenwriter likes to play with words to make you laugh. The movie doesn't have the witty lines anymore.. which make the whole thing looks dull and lack of character..

And what's up with Mr. Big all of a sudden becoming so caring? I remembered he was constantly full of himself and dominating in the tv series, but now he is sentimental and accommodating, hum..I thought guys would never change....

And then the movie ends with the fabulous 50... really? is 50 yrs old with wrinkled face fabulous? I am sure they are fabulous with successful career, but they just can't act like 20 sth yrs old girls who constantly hunt for guys anymore, because we all know guys at all ages would only be interested in 20 sth yrs old chicks for or not for a fling.

The X-files

Being an analyst, our job is to analyze one company's corporate strategy and its financial operation, to determine whether it is a good investment and can enhance shareholders' value. We like to drill deep into a company's past in order to understand its present, how this company's business model evolves over time, how the management implement the strategy, what is the company's track record on delivering the results. This is a common practice as to thoroughly dissect one company's organs and look for the hidden diseased cells. But does it mean that this prudent practice can lead to a guaranteed success, or would it lead to a possible failure?

Every coin has two faces, so as every event and every decision you make with your analysis. History may not always repeat itself because the present can learn from the past. A company with crappy track record can manage to turnaround by restructuring, so as a company with good track record can spiral down into disaster if operating in a comfort zone for too long. We may likely be making a mistake if the past is not representative of the present. This also relates to the basis of trust. We build up our trust with specific companies over time, depending on how they deliver what they have promised and how well they manage our expectation. We tend to give more credit for companies which consistently deliver while discredit those which have disappointed us in the past.

When it comes to relationship, is it necessary to open the x-files to look into one's past and failures before deciding whether it is a buy or sell?
